The Masters in School Psychology Program embraces a practitioner-scientist model of training in which practice, research, and theory are considered integrated components. The emphasis is on developing applied knowledge in research methods, human growth and development, learning principles, psychopathology, and biological basis of behavior necessary for functioning in the public schools.

Texas A&M University - Central Texas' Specialist in School Psychology Program

The specialist degree in School Psychology, which is between a Masters and a Doctoral degree, is designed to help students achieve licensure from the State of Texas as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). An LSSP is responsible for providing psychological services to public school children addressing a wide range of behavioral and emotional needs. LSSP coursework combines web-enhanced and on-campus learning, with a two-semester-long internship at the end of the program, which is typically completed in a public school setting.

Texas Tech University's School Psychology Program

The school psychology program at Texas Tech University is working to address the shortage of school psychologists by offering a flexible course sequence. Although the program is not 100% online, the course sequence is designed to accommodate students who are currently working full-time in public education across the state of Texas. The program uses a cohort model, and applications are accepted annually between October and March for the following fall semester.

West Texas A&M University's Specialist in School Psychology Program

The Specialist in School Psychology graduate program at West Texas A&M University provides the foundation for the data-based problem-solving skills of the practicing school psychologist, who makes use of the latest educational and psychological research in designing individualized and empirically validated interventions to meet the academic, social, behavioral, and emotional needs of children and youth. The program is designed to meet the requirement for state licensure (LSSP). Graduates of the program will be prepared for employment as school psychologists in public schools or other related organizations and agencies.
